Close the Wal-Mart tax loophole

Dear State Legislator, I am writing to ask you to close the Wal-Mart tax loophole. A recent analysis by Citizens for Tax Justice shows that Wal-Mart avoided paying $2.3 billion in state income taxes, cutting its payment to state governments almost in half between 1999 and 2005. If Wal-Mart had paid the taxes it owed in 2005, we could have provided health care coverage to more children, built new schools and even put more police on the streets.
