Ohioans deserve answers from Walmart.  There is no excuse for a hugely profitable company like Walmart to force Ohio taxpayers to subsidize it with $68 million a year. A recent report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services shows that large companies are failing to provide health care to their employees. Walmart has more than 15,000 employees and their dependents on Medicaid in the state of Ohio, which is more than any other private employer in the state, and taxpayers are footing the bill.

According to Walmart, only 2.6% of their employees in the country rely on Medicaid for health care, but in Ohio, that number appears to be much higher.

Walmart claims to want health care reform, but the company is a major example of what is wrong with the system, failing to cover nearly 50% of their employees nationwide.

With nearly $14 billion in profits last year, Walmart can afford to live up to its responsibilities and provide affordable, quality health coverage to its employees.
